3 Tips to Be Warm and Stylish in the Winter Season

Living in climate regions that have more than one season, It is difficult to keep up with the demands of each new season and the unending search for what to wear. This challenge is most common when it comes to the Winter season.

Winter comes from an old German word that means “time of water,” and this refers to the rain and snow of winter in middle and high latitudes. It is one of the four seasons in the Northern Hemisphere that usually takes place from December to March. However, in a country like Canada, we start experiencing winter earlier than usual.

In this blog, I’ll be sharing 3 tips I use when styling myself in the Winter.

  1. Layering

Layering gives you the opportunity to play around with clothing pieces in your wardrobe. Pieces that come in different textures, fabrics, colors, and weights. It usually requires a lot of patience and a desire to experiment with what you have. However, with layering, you will also need to consider the temperature of your city. One thing you should always keep in mind when layering clothes is to avoid looking bulky by pairing items in proportion. For example, pair an oversized sweater with a structured coat or blazer.

2. Having the right Fabric Quality

Choosing the right fabrics for winter garments is essential to make sure you are comfortable. It’s important to ensure the functionality of the clothes you are wearing. The best fabric for winter, amongst others, is Wool. It is considered the best because of its warmth and insulation, which makes it breathable.

3. Having the right Shoes

The Winter season comes with a lot of rain, snow, and ice which makes the ground slippery. The last thing you want to do is wear the wrong type of shoes because it could lead to health complications. However, from a fashion perspective, you want your shoes to be functional and comfortable. Functional shoes allow you to walk properly while comfortable shoes keep your feet warm and dry.

With these three points highlighted, I collaborated with Poppy Barley to create a Winter-Style Guide. A guide that helps solve the problem of knowing what to wear this winter. It provides ideas and inspiration on what clothing pieces to invest in and showcases how these pieces can be paired with fashionable and winter-conscious looks.

This guide includes 14 outfits, and I made sure to highlight all three points discussed above in every look created. So, if you find yourself feeling stuck on what to do this winter season, then make sure to check out the Winter Style Guide.
