How to Create a Functional Wardrobe

One thing I looked forward to as I moved to Canada was the opportunity to explore more fashion ideas and outfits.
When I arrived, I bought a black pump-like shoe from Ali Express. I was excited about it but after wearing it once or twice, I realized that I may have rushed that purchase. In fact, I quickly realized that Ali Express is likely one of the least ideal places to buy shoes.
From that time on, I knew that I had to work to develop a functional wardrobe for myself. A functional wardrobe is one with outfits that actually work for you. In other words, you are at peace with whatever outfit’s in
Building a functional wardrobe is something that happens organically. With every intentional clothing purchase, you can selectively create your ideal wardrobe. More so, there are three steps you can take to have a functional wardrobe.
Declutter: Decluttering is hard for folks who love the idea of having a full closet. But in reality, even with a full closet, there will be dates when none of your outfits actually work for you. My suggestion for decluttering is to get rid of clothing items that you haven’t worn in at least 6 months. You don’t have to throw them in the garbage, you can donate them.
Organize: Once you’ve decluttered your closet, you can sort the clothing pieces you have left according to their colours and similarity. For example, black shirts in one drawer or all hats hung and arranged on the wall in your closet. This way, you can easily find the outfits you need when you need them.
Create an ideas list: This is a straightforward step that involves writing a list of items you would like to see in your closet. Your ideas list should be based on what you actually need, and not necessarily what’s trendy. Think of the activities you’re likely to be involved in over the next 6 months and think of how the new outfits will fit in well with what you already have. After doing this, you can look up ideal stores for purchasing these outfits.
Having a functional wardrobe is really about buying and wearing what works for you. Thinking of outfits this way will change the way you approach your shopping. It will give you a better perspective of your personal style.
There will always be trends but trends should never define your personal style. It is more rewarding to have a functional wardrobe that fits you in every way.
Just like Lindz Wilkins said, having style isn’t about a full wardrobe with a lot of items, it’s about having the right items for you and your personal style.
I would love to know what tip you will be using.
