I want to look simple yet very classy!

“I want to look simple yet very classy” were the words Mopelola said to me during her consultation. Three things she made clear to me were that she wanted a Korean bridal style, styles that weren’t common among other brides, and an outfit she could wear again after her wedding.

We all have different body types, but all have suitable body features to highlight. Hence, the immediate choice was a fitted dress since Mope has a petite, curvy body. The two main areas were her lower body and upper body. The lower body highlights her small curvy structure, and the upper body highlights her neckline area.

The Second step was to put into consideration the things she wanted; one thing I noticed about Korean brides was how simple yet classy or sophisticated their designs were. So that was one more reason to make the dress a simple pencil dress but with a high slit for easy movement. Although we were going for simplicity, we didn’t want the dress to look plain, hence the sleeves. With her body type, there is flexibility to play around with the sleeves, and going for a dramatic cape sleeve draws your attention to her whole body features.

The third step was to consider using a fabric that would allow her to wear the dress again. The choice of material used was a damask fabric that Tom sourced, a stylist and part of the team. She chose this fabric because of its high-quality finish, and not commonly used for bridal attires.

Lastly, this is an outfit she can repeatedly wear because it has a modern concept.
