For the love of the Culture
Mope is from the Western part of Nigeria, and her tribe is Yoruba. The Yoruba people take their traditional wedding ceremony very seriously, which was the main reason for this outfit. The main goal was to create a design that represented her Yoruba heritage modernly.
Mope has a small and curvy body type, and wearing fitted outfits pair perfectly with her body type. However, this dress was made into a wrap dress (typically women are to tie wrappers) to be able to preserve the tradition of her culture which was the number one priority. But to keep it modern, we chose a flare sleeve and used a two tone fabric too complement everything.
