“I have no clothes to wear”
“I have no clothes to wear” - have you ever caught yourself saying this?
I have been there. There have been times when I’ve said this while I’m staring at an entire line of dresses in my closet. If you’re like me, the issue here isn’t that we have no clothes to wear. Instead, the issue is we can’t think of a creative way to style the clothing items we have for the occasion at hand.
This blazer is one of those clothing items that has stared back at me, several times, as I said to myself, “I have no clothes to wear.” It has come a long way from being an overlooked clothing item in my closet to the key piece of my look-book for this month.
Given to me as a gift, this Zara blazer is something I usually wouldn’t buy or wear. Most times, I’m worried that I won’t find a blazer that’s my size or that it just won’t be the right fit. So, I don’t bother buying them in the first place. I haven’t worn or paired several outfits with blazers. Yet, for this look-book, I was able to find a simple but creative way to style it—and now, I’m so in love with it.
Blazers are unique because they can make a statement or can be a perfect add-on to your casual outfit. They allow you to diversify your clothing options and try new things. That’s what makes this oversized blazer special. Just like a long line vest, the blazer’s length makes it an ideal workwear staple or something to wear for a friendly get-together. It has no buttons so it perpetually remains open and gives off a friendly or semi-professional look.
The blazer can be paired with different kinds of pants, dresses, skirts, sweaters and shirts. In this look-book, I paired the blazer with long pants mostly because it’s the fall season and it’s getting chilly outside. Speaking of the fall season, the blazer’s colour is the perfect fall colour. A fall trend that we are seeing this year is the blazer, like this one, paired with a nice pair of jeans.
Other ways to style this blazer:
Wear it over a dress
Add a belt to it and wear it with a pair of leather pants
Wear it with a skirt
Roll the sleeves up
I love this blazer because it allows me to be creative with my outfits during the fall season. I am learning to be more creative with my outfit choices and through this monthly look-book, I plan to keep showing you how I express my style. This style, in particular, was inspired by a professional stylist that I follow: Christie Ressel. She’s always finding new ways to style outfits for different seasons and occasions.
I’ll love to hear from you. Send me an email and let me know how you’re styling your outfits during this fall season.
